Last days in Asia

The next day was my last day in Burma. That morning, I went back to the massage place at the market and got another footmassage. During the massage you always start a conversation with the person who is massaging you and you'll get to know them. At noon I left to northern Yangon to be closer to the airport, my flight was leaving very early the next morning. There I got a very dirty motelroom like you see in the movies, a room with no windows and with the scent of Burmese cigars. Ofcourse I smoked Burmese cigars myself, even though I don't smoke. It's not smoking but tasting the local culture!
Because I was a bit bored and there was nothing much I could do, I went out to get another massage. I still have the feeling that I don't have any bones left in my body!
After I flew to Bangkok, I stayed in a guesthouse near Khaosan Road. Khaosan Road itself I don't like. It is the whole city of Bangkok concentrated in one street, too crowded, it has more tourists than Thai people and something there must be illegal (like the fake degrees you can buy there or the bar that is advertising with the slogan: 'We don't check ID'). It's all tolerated because the police is walking by doing nothing. The streets around are just with as many restaurants and bars, but not so crowded. Here I had my last Thai massage.
My very last day, a taxi picked me up to go to the airport to catch my plane. It all went well. After boarding, our plane was delayed because the food was too late. I thought to myself: 'I don't need food, it's only a four hour flight to China and otherwise I will miss my transit'. When we arrived in China I only had 20 minutes transit time, but I made it. Then the plane to Amsterdam was also delayed...
Now I'm back again. My trip in Asia seems ages ago now. Luckily I've got pictures and I cannot stop looking at them and telling people about my trip. People ask me which country I like the most, but it's not fair to say. Thailand and Burma I liked the most, but I think it is because I spent there the most time. Laos, Vietnam and Cambodia I kind of rushed through. Also in Laos and Vietnam, the people are more reserved than in the other countries, but when you start talking to the people, they will open up to you as well. People in Thailand are more spontaneous, they will come to you and talk to you. They are very friendly and will help you every way they can. But sometimes they will get pushy, trying to convince you to take a tuktuk or to eat in their restaurant.
Burma is especially nice because the country just opened up, so the people do not now many tourist yet and they are very curious. They want to know everything of you. It is vey hard to believe that Burma is still stratocracy. Everyone on the street is greeting you and smiling to you.
Now I'm still enjoying my trip. I kind of miss Asia, with all the smiles and greetings, all the massages, the invites from strangers to drink tea with them, the cheap cocktails and cheap food. I'm also glad to be back home but my digestive system is not yet used to the food here...
